Concord,NC — The 2009 World of Outlaws season came to an end with the annual Night of Champions at the Great Wolfe Lodge in Concord, North Carolina. Over a half million dollars in cash and prizes was awarded during the celebration, with Donny Schatz taking home the lion’s share of $150,000 for his fourth consecutive championship. Brian Ellenberger received the 2009 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award, while Randy Wolfe was named Crew Chief of the Year. All 11 of the full-time World of Outlaws drivers received point fund money and spoke on stage with a representative of their respective teams. Read More

Concord,NC — The third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway packed the house, with a record 57 competitors signing in at the pit gate. Donny Schatz began the event by setting fast time in both rounds of qualifying. Jason Meyers kept his title hopes alive by winning on Friday, while Joey Saldana capped off a career-year with his 20th A-Feature victory in the finale. Donny Schatz used second and sixth-place finishes to wrap up his fourth consecutive title, making him the only driver other than Steve Kinser to accomplish this feat. Read More

Kilgore,TX — Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas hosted the inaugural WoO Fest on October 24, with plenty of Halloween activities for kids, with a costume contest and costume giveaways, as well as candy a-plenty for the youngsters. On the track, Joey Saldana picked up his 19th A-Feature win of the season and 20th overall victory over Sam Hafertepe Jr., whose family owns and operates Lone Star Speedway. Read More
World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park for Super DIRT Week XXXVIII

Elbridge,NY — The World of Outlaws made their long awaited return to Super DIRT Week on October 10 with the New Yorker 25 at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. A stout field of 44 cars signed in and took part in the night of racing. Tim Shaffer won the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position for the 25-lap contest. He led early, with Donny Schatz getting around him on the 12th lap, with Shaffer retaking the lead following a lap 18 restart. He would pace the field for the remainder of the distance to score his first World of Outlaws win of the season and the 13th of his career. It was also his first win ever in the state of New York. Mechanicsburg,PA — The richest night in the history of Williams Grove Speedway took place on Saturday, October 3 with $70,000 on the line for the winner of the famed National Open and the completion of the Summer Nationals which was postponed by rain back in July. With the cameras from SPEED capturing all the action live, Greg Hodnett scored his first career National Open win and his third consecutive against the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove. Rossburg,OH — The World of Outlaws helped kick off the annual Four Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway on September 25 with a very strong field of 44 cars signed in. Sammy Swindell led at the drop of the green, with Terry McCarl then pacing the field, before Tim Shaffer took the spot and finally it was Jason Sides making the pass for the lead and ultimately the win on the 26th circuit. Deer Creek,MN — The World of Outlaws made their debut at Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota on September 19 for the Sprint for a Cure Summer Clash which was postponed by rain in August. The largest crowd in the history of the track was on hand for the event which came down to a last lap battle between Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz and Jason Meyers. Spencer,IA — The World of Outlaws made their third consecutive appearance at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa in an event promoted by Craig and Julie Dollansky. The event began with the Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge, with Danny Lasoski’s team picking up the top prize in that. In the 30-lap A-Feature event, Jason Meyers and Joey Saldana traded the lead four times, including three times over the last five laps with Meyers coming out on top. Read More

Chico,CA — The 56th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champion wrapped up with the 40-lap $50,000 to-win A-Feature event. Jason Sides dominated most of the event until the leaders encountered lapped traffic over the last few laps, giving Joey Saldana just enough of an opening to make a last turn last lap pass to snag the win. Chico,CA — The second night of the 56th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions saw 41 competitors sign into the pit area on a warm and sunny day. Jason Sides began the night by turning the fastest lap in time trials. He also won the dash and led the first 26 laps of the preliminary feature until Joey Saldana slipped by him with four laps to go to snag the win.
